Vaccinations
Description:

Certified assistance/service dogs must meet the same rabies vaccination and titre requirements as pet dogs under MAST Certificate D2.

  • Microchip implantation before rabies vaccination.
  • Rabies vaccination after microchip implantation.
  • Rabies antibody titre: blood drawn ≥ 30 days after vaccination with result ≥ 0.5 IU/mL at an approved laboratory.
  • Observe the ≥ 90-day wait after blood draw (successful titre) before import.
Certifications
Description:

An import permit from MAST is required for assistance/service dogs.

  • Obtain the MAST import permit prior to travel.
  • Coordinate any required quarantine and arrival timing with MAST and the quarantine station.
Microchip

An ISO-compliant microchip is required and must be implanted before rabies vaccination.

Transport exceptions

Transport rules for assistance/service dogs.

  • Certified service dogs are permitted to travel in the aircraft passenger cabin to Iceland, per Regulation 332/2024 and MAST FAQ.
  • All other import health, permit, and arrival coordination requirements still apply.
Quarantine

Quarantine requirements are set by MAST.

  • Minimum 14-day quarantine on arrival applies unless MAST specifies otherwise for the individual case.
  • Arrival must be via Keflavík Airport and aligned with quarantine station schedules.
