Georgia
Dog, Cat & Ferret Regulations
Vaccinations
Georgia’s non‑commercial movement rules require rabies immunization to be documented for dogs, cats, and ferrets. After a primary rabies vaccination, a minimum waiting period applies before travel; if an animal is too young or not yet validly vaccinated, the owner may use the officially prescribed owner declaration (Annex No. 2) under the conditions set by the Government Resolution.
- Valid rabies vaccination documented in the identification/health document.
- At least 21 days must elapse after the primary rabies vaccination before entry.
- If young or not yet validly vaccinated, complete the Owner Declaration (Annex No. 2) in line with the Resolution’s conditions.
Certifications
An identification/health document (veterinary certificate or pet passport) containing the required animal identification and vaccination details is accepted under Government Resolution No. 551. For pets originating from the United States, USDA APHIS provides the export health certificate model used in practice for Georgia.
- Veterinary certificate or pet passport that meets the fields required by Government Resolution No. 551.
- For U.S.-origin pets: use the USDA APHIS export health certificate and obtain APHIS endorsement before travel.

Listed vs. Unlisted Countries (Article 7)
Georgia distinguishes between movements from “listed” and “unlisted” countries under Article 7 of Government Resolution No. 551. The currently applicable list is not clearly posted on the NFA public site; travelers should confirm status directly with the National Food Agency (NFA) or, if departing the U.S., refer to the USDA APHIS page for Georgia.
