French Guyana
Dog & Cat & Ferret Regulations
Vaccinations
Dogs, cats, and ferrets entering French Guyana (France) must comply with French/EU rules for non-commercial movement from third countries. A valid rabies vaccination is required. Per MASA guidance, a rabies antibody titre (RNATT) is not required when arriving from an EU-listed country (e.g., the United States).
- Animal must be uniquely identified (microchip) before rabies vaccination.
- Primary rabies vaccination must be completed and at least 21 days old on the date of entry; boosters are valid per the manufacturer’s duration if kept current.
- Rabies vaccination details must be recorded on the EU health certificate (or EU pet passport, if applicable).
- No rabies antibody titre (RNATT) is required when arriving from an EU-listed country.
Certifications
An EU animal health certificate for non-commercial movement of dogs, cats, and ferrets issued by the competent authority of the country of departure is required for entry into France/French Guyana. Follow the national guidance and, if departing the United States, the USDA APHIS instructions for certification and endorsement.
- Certificate must be issued and signed by the official (competent) veterinarian of the exporting country.
- Certificate must reference the animal’s microchip identification and rabies vaccination details.
- Used for non-commercial movement under EU rules (generally up to five pets accompanying the owner or authorised person).
- Certificate validity for entry follows EU timelines (e.g., entry within the stated validity window from issuance).
Microchip
Animal must be identified by an ISO-compliant microchip meeting EU/France requirements. A readable tattoo applied before 3 July 2011 may be accepted under EU rules.
