Description:
Pet birds must meet one of the EU entry options and travel with a USDA-endorsed health certificate.
- Certificate must be issued by a USDA Accredited Veterinarian within 48 hours before departure and endorsed by USDA APHIS.
- Each bird must have a unique identifier (e.g., leg band, microchip/transponder, ring, or tag).
- Choose and document one of the EU entry options on the certificate:
- • Option 1: 30-day pre-export isolation.
- • Option 2: 14-day pre-export isolation plus avian influenza (H5/H7) testing at an approved laboratory.
- • Option 3: 30-day post-introduction quarantine at an approved facility in the EU.
- APHIS returns an ink-signed, embossed original certificate that must accompany the bird.
Microchip
Birds must be individually identifiable (e.g., leg band, ring, tag, or microchip/transponder).
