Denmark
Dog & Cat & Ferret Regulations
Vaccinations
Rabies vaccination is required for entry to Denmark under EU rules. Denmark does not allow Article 11 exceptions for unvaccinated young dogs, cats, or ferrets; all animals must meet full microchip and rabies vaccination requirements, including the post-vaccination waiting period.
- Your pet must be microchipped before the rabies vaccination used for travel.
- Rabies vaccine must be administered by a licensed/USDA Accredited (authorized) veterinarian.
- Wait at least 21 days after the primary rabies vaccination before entry.
- Denmark does not accept Article 11 derogations for young animals; entry without a valid rabies vaccination and required waiting period is not permitted.
Certifications
Use this certificate when the owner or a designated person travels with the pet or within 5 days of the pet’s movement.
- Certificate must be issued by a USDA Accredited Veterinarian and endorsed by USDA APHIS.
- Arrival in the EU must occur within 10 days of USDA endorsement.
- APHIS may accept the veterinarian’s electronic signature, but APHIS returns an ink-signed, embossed original certificate that must travel with the animal.
Microchip
Your pet must have a working microchip implanted before its rabies vaccination for EU travel. The chip must be readable at inspection.
Origin Requirements
No origin-specific requirements for this pet.
