Cyprus
Domestic rabbits Regulations
Vaccinations
Cyprus applies the EU pet movement rules (Regulation (EU) No 576/2013) for dogs, cats, and ferrets entering from third countries. A valid rabies vaccination is required and must be administered after microchip implantation. For primary vaccinations, a waiting period applies before entry.
- Your pet must be vaccinated against rabies after microchip implantation.
- For a primary (first) rabies vaccination, wait at least 21 days after vaccination before entry.
- Booster vaccinations must be current on the date of entry (no 21-day wait if boosters have been kept current without lapse).
- Per Cyprus Veterinary Services, a rabies antibody titration test is required for animals coming from Belarus or Russia (policy note dated 16 September 2024).
Certifications
Use the EU pet animal health certificate for non-commercial movement when you travel with up to five pets and the owner/authorized person travels with or within 5 days of the animals. The certificate must be completed by a USDA-Accredited Veterinarian and endorsed by USDA before travel.
- Have the EU non-commercial pet health certificate issued by a USDA-Accredited Veterinarian.
- Obtain USDA endorsement of the certificate.
- For non-commercial movements, the endorsed certificate must be issued/endorsed within 10 days before arrival in the EU.
- Owner or authorized person must travel with the pet(s) or within 5 days of the pet(s).
- A maximum of five pets may travel non-commercially (see the Article 25(3) written declaration for show/competition exceptions).
Use the current EU commercial health certificate (model for dogs/cats/ferrets) when the movement is commercial (e.g., sale/transfer of ownership), when more than five animals travel without a qualifying exception, or when the owner/authorized person is not traveling within 5 days of the animals. USDA endorsement is required.
- Use the current 2025 EU commercial certificate model for dogs/cats/ferrets (CANIS-FELIS-FERRETS).
- Have the certificate completed by a USDA-Accredited Veterinarian and endorsed by USDA before shipment.
- Follow routing/entry instructions provided by USDA and Cyprus authorities for commercial entries.
Microchip
Your pet must be identified with a microchip compliant with ISO 11784/11785 before rabies vaccination. If the microchip is not ISO-compatible, you should bring a compatible reader.
Origin Requirements
No origin-specific requirements for this pet.

Movement declarations and routing
Certain movements require written declarations and specific routing conditions under EU/Cyprus rules.
- If traveling via an unlisted third country, provide the written declaration under Article 12 stating no contact with susceptible animals during transit.
- If traveling with more than five pets for a competition, show, or sporting event (or training for such), provide the written declaration under Article 25(3).
- Arrivals from third countries must use designated points of entry; advance notification (typically 48 hours) to a District Veterinary Office in Cyprus is required. Confirm the current entry points and notification process with the District Veterinary Office.
Pets under 16 weeks of age
Acceptance conditions for pets under 16 weeks (not fully vaccinated against rabies) depend on Member State policy. Cyprus-specific acceptance conditions are not specified on the cited pages.
