An international veterinary health certificate meeting ICA requirements must accompany the animal for inspection. If departing from the United States, use the APHIS "Veterinary Health Certificate for Export of Dogs and Cats to Colombia" and obtain USDA endorsement as applicable.

Travelers must register in ICA’s SISPAP system as Viajero–Importador and submit the CIS request before travel. Bring the printed request and proof of payment. On arrival, ICA conducts the inspection and issues the Certificado de Inspección Sanitaria (CIS). Payments at entry points are by card only (no cash).
