Vaccinations
Description:
Rabies Vaccine Requirements per EU 576/2013 Annex III
- Rabies vaccines must be administered by an authorized veterinarian.
- All pets must wait at least 21 days, or the time designated by the rabies vaccine manufacturer prior to traveling to the port of entry.
- Primary vaccination given at minimum 12 weeks of age
- Booster vaccination valid immediately if given within validity period specified by vaccine manufacturer
- Late booster vaccination considered primary vaccination with 21-day waiting period
Certifications

- Model certificate in Annex IV Part 1 of Regulation (EU) No 577/2013 as amended by Regulation (EU) 2019/1293
- Must be issued by official veterinarian in English or German
- May be issued by authorized veterinarian but must be endorsed by competent authority of country of dispatch
- Certificate must not be older than 10 days at time of entry into EU
- Valid for 4 months from moment of control at EU external border or until rabies vaccination expires, whichever comes first
- Clinical examination required within 48 hours before departure
Microchip
Must be implanted before rabies vaccination
ISO standard required (tattoo only valid if applied before July 3, 2011 and clearly legible)
