Vaccinations
Description:

Valid rabies vaccination is required for dogs and cats entering Aruba. The Government of Aruba’s sanitary measures specify timing requirements for pets arriving from the United States; Aruba Customs also indicates rabies vaccination proof is required.

USDA APHIS guidance notes that if a pet receives a rabies booster while its previous vaccination is still valid, the 1‑month wait may not apply; Aruba’s pages do not state this—confirm with Aruba’s Veterinary Service (VET).

  • Pet must be currently vaccinated against rabies and carry original proof.
  • If this is the first rabies vaccination (or previous vaccination expired), administer it at least 1 month before arrival and not more than 1 year before entry.
  • Puppies/kittens under 3 months may be exempt from rabies vaccination if accompanied by a veterinarian’s statement (subject to VET acceptance).
Certifications
Description:

Aruba Customs states you must obtain prior authorization from Aruba’s Veterinary Service before traveling with pets.

  • Contact Aruba’s Veterinary Service in advance and obtain written approval before travel.
  • Provide species, identification (microchip), itinerary, and any documents VET requests.
  • Carry VET approval for inspection on arrival.
Microchip

Required. Dogs and cats must be microchipped. AVID and ISO-compliant microchips are accepted; if your pet has a non-ISO chip, bring your own microchip reader. (Government of Aruba – Sanitary measures for importing pets)

Origin Requirements

No origin-specific requirements for this pet.

More Info
From the United States (additional conditions)

The Government of Aruba page outlines specific conditions for dogs/cats arriving from the USA.

  • Pet must have resided continuously in the United States prior to travel.
  • Use a USDA APHIS–endorsed health certificate issued within 14 days before arrival.
  • Ensure microchip and rabies documentation match the certificate.
Import Restrictions by Origin

Aruba Customs indicates origin-based restrictions for dogs and cats.

  • Imports from South & Central America, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba are generally prohibited.
  • A limited exception may apply when accompanying household effects, subject to prior approval by Aruba’s Veterinary Service.
Quarantine and Inspection

Aruba’s Quarantine Ordinance provides authority for quarantine (up to 14 days) and sanitary controls. Routine quarantine for compliant pets is not specified in the cited sources; confirm with VET.

Customs Procedures

Customs provides a Temporary Import/Export declaration form for travelers. Its applicability to pets is not explicitly stated; consult Customs/VET if any declaration is required for your entry.
