Vaccinations
Rabies vaccination is required for the non-commercial movement of these companion animals into Albania. After a primary vaccination, a waiting period applies before travel is permitted.
- The animal must have a valid rabies vaccination at the time of entry.
- After a primary rabies vaccination, at least 21 days must pass before the animal is considered compliant for entry.
Certifications
The animal must travel with appropriate identification and health documentation for non-commercial movement of companion animals, to be presented at border controls if requested.
- Carry the required travel/health documentation (e.g., pet passport or equivalent veterinary documentation).
- Present the animal and documents for border controls/inspection if requested.
Microchip
Identification is required. The animal must be identifiable, such as by a clearly readable tattoo or an electronic identification device (microchip), as referenced in Albania’s companion-animal movement rules.
Origin Requirements
No origin-specific requirements for this pet.
More Info
Animals under 3 months (unvaccinated)
The regulation describes conditions under which animals under 3 months of age (not vaccinated for rabies) may be allowed entry.
- Entry for unvaccinated animals under 3 months may be permitted only under specific conditions described in the regulation (e.g., document attestations and related safeguards).
Non-commercial movement scope/quantity
Rules for non-commercial movement apply to a limited number of accompanying pets; movements exceeding this may be treated under other (commercial/trade) rules.
- Ensure your movement qualifies as non-commercial; larger numbers of animals may be subject to trade/commercial requirements.
Border controls and non-compliance
Animals and documents may be checked at entry points. Non-compliance can trigger enforcement actions.
- Animals may be subject to veterinary/border inspection on entry.
- If requirements are not met, authorities may deny entry, quarantine the animal until compliant, or require return to the origin.
