Service Animals Travel Rules

Service animals, including psychiatric service dogs, always travel free in the cabin when on duty.
Service animals are welcome in SAS Lounges as long as they remain in their carriers and with their owners at all times.
In lounges, the animal must remain in the carrier placed in the designated area, behave properly, be clean and groomed, and not engage in disruptive behavior.
Animals may not eat or drink from SAS Lounge service ware.
Cats and dogs are not allowed in lounges in Norway due to local regulations.

Small cats and dogs may travel in the cabin; other animals must be transported as cargo.
Each traveler may bring 1 pet container/carrier containing up to 2 healthy pets of the same species.
The pet must remain inside a closed pet container/carrier that fits under the seat in front of you during the entire flight.
The pet and container count as carry-on baggage; in addition, one personal item (40 x 30 x 15 cm) is allowed.
Animals are not permitted in SAS Business or on SAS charter flights.
Accepted carriers are soft-sided, flexible, closeable, well ventilated, leak and bite-proof (e.g., Sherpa Bag or similar).
Maximum carrier size: 40 x 25 x 23 cm (L x W x H).

Passengers must provide their own escape-proof containers meeting IATA regulations; SAS may refuse pets in non-compliant containers.
Maximum combined weight (animal + container): 50 kg.
Maximum 2 adult animals of comparable size (up to 14 kg each) may share a container if accustomed to each other.
Maximum 3 animals from the same litter (up to 6 months old) may share a container.
Animals over 14 kg must travel in separate containers.
On flights to the USA, only one animal per crate is allowed.
Brachycephalic breeds (bulldogs, pugs, Pekingese and crossbreeds) are not allowed in cargo hold; some snub-nosed dogs may travel cargo with special container requirements.
