Service Animals: When assistance from a guide dog or service dog is required, it is transported free of charge along with its owner (or trainer) on the aircraft¹. To this end, it is important that this information is indicated at the time of purchase, in the “Special Assistance” area. Azul does not transport pets in the aircraft's hold, pets travel with their owners in the cabin, in a container beneath the seat in front. During the entire flight, the animal travels next to its owner, in a preferred seat, and must be equipped with a collar, leash and harness with handle, clean and in good health. Just like on our aircraft, these animals can also board the Blue Buses. Customers with a guide dog or service dog cannot check in online, as they must present the animal and its documentation at the airport counter. The transportation of dogs, including guide dogs and service dogs, on flights departing from Brazil to the USA is temporarily suspended by determination of the CDC (Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, US health and prevention agency), due to the outbreak of canine rabies in the location. Azul does not transport animals under 4 months of age.
