  • Only dogs, cats, and rabbits are allowed as checked baggage in the cargo compartment. Service dogs are allowed in the cabin.
  • Pets younger than 4 months and pregnant animals are not accepted.
  • Each passenger can check in a maximum of 2 cages. Regulations of arrival/transit country may apply.
  • Pet acceptance is only for international flights operated by EVA Air and UNI Air. Other airlines' policies may apply.
  • Pet travel requests must be made at least 48 hours before departure. The 'Passenger’s Declaration for Live Animal' form must be submitted.
  • Passengers must provide valid health and vaccination certificates.
  • Check-in should be completed two hours before departure, or 2.5 hours for London Heathrow Airport.
  • Some routes and aircraft have specific pet restrictions. A321 and B787 do not accept pets as checked baggage.
  • Brachycephalic dog/cat breeds and 'mix' are not accepted for carriage during certain months depending on the hemisphere.
  • Some Southeast Asian countries and certain routes prohibit transport of brachycephalic dogs and cats.
  • Dangerous dog breeds and their cross-breeds are not permitted.
  • Each country has its own pet transport regulations. Check your destination's rules before flying.
  • Pets must be transported in IATA-approved containers.
  • Only one pet per container if total weight exceeds 14kg. Up to two pets of similar size allowed if weight is under 14kg.
  • Pets and their container are charged as excess baggage. Service dogs in the cabin are free of charge.

Service dogs carried by disabled passengers are allowed in the cabin at no charge.

Properly harnessed seeing-eye/hearing-aid dogs accompanying visually or hearing-impaired passengers can be transported to/from the passenger cabin.

Guide dogs/assistance dogs for persons with disabilities are accepted in the cabin on flights to/from Hong Kong, but require certifications, quarantine documents, and an Approval Letter from the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.

Pets other than service dogs are not accepted in the cabin.

Checked Baggage Pet Carrier Rules

  • Only dogs, cats, and rabbits are accepted as checked baggage in the cargo compartment.
  • Pregnant animals and animals younger than 4 months are not accepted.
  • Each passenger occupying a seat may check in a maximum of 2 cages (except unaccompanied minors).
  • Only one pet per container.
  • Pets must be transported in rigid plastic containers compliant with IATA standards:
    • One door only
    • Ventilation openings on more than one side
    • Moisture-absorbing material on floor
    • Doors secured with zip ties or protective nets/straps
    • Wheels removed before transport
    • Containers made of welded mesh, wire mesh, wicker, cardboard, collapsible materials, or with two doors are prohibited
  • Container size must allow the pet to stand, sit, lie naturally, and turn around.
  • Food and water receptacles must be securely attached inside the container.
  • Height measurement: animal standing height without touching cage roof.
  • Length measurement: nose to tail root plus half height from ground to elbow joint.
  • Width measurement: twice the width across shoulder blades.
  • Compartment pressure and temperature are the same as passenger cabin.
  • Check-in at least 2 hours before departure (2.5 hours at London Heathrow).
  • Five cages allowed per flight except on A321 and B787 aircraft.
