Service Animals on Emirates

Only Guide Dogs for the visually impaired are permitted in the cabin on Emirates flights.

All other animals, including service dogs not specified as guide dogs, must be transported according to cargo or checked baggage rules.

In-Cabin Pet Carrier Rules

Animals are generally not permitted in the cabin on Emirates flights, except for falcons between Dubai and certain destinations in Pakistan, and Guide Dogs for the visually impaired.

All other animals must be transported as checked baggage or cargo.

Checked Baggage and Cargo Pet Rules

• All animals except falcons (on specific routes) and guide dogs must be transported as checked baggage or cargo.
• For itineraries ending in Dubai, animals must be transported as cargo.
• Falcons, cats, dogs, and pet birds can be transported as checked baggage if the total journey time is less than 17 hours and conditions are met.
• Animals weighing over 14 kg must travel in separate containers; up to two adult animals of comparable size and up to 14 kg each may share a container if accustomed to cohabitation.
• Animals listed under CITES must be transported as cargo.
• Pregnant animals beyond one-third of gestation or animals that gave birth within 48 hours are not accepted.
• Animals must have valid import permits and health certificates including vaccination records.
• Animals must have a 24-hour emergency contact number and optimum temperature requirement shown on the travel container.
• Transit via Dubai requires cargo transport if connection time exceeds 6 hours; animals needing feeding or medication during transit must be booked as cargo with at least 6 hours connection time.
• No birds (except some falcons) accepted for transit via Dubai as checked baggage or cargo between May 1 and September 30 due to heat and humidity.

Charges apply even if no other checked baggage is carried. Rates and document requirements differ from usual excess baggage rules.
