Airline Pet Policy Summary:

  • Small household pets such as dogs, birds, and cats can be transported as baggage.
  • Pets that are too small, too large, or pose risks to transportation cannot be transported as baggage. This includes certain breeds of short-nosed canines and felines, and aggressive breeds.
  • All pets being transported must be in a breathable container (exceptions apply for service dogs).
  • Passengers bear full responsibility for the pets they transport. The airline is not liable for the pet's illness, injury, or death unless it is caused by the airline's actions.

Packaging Requirements:

  • Applications for pet transport must be submitted at least 72 hours before flight departure.
  • Each passenger can only carry one pet or one pair of birds in their checked baggage.
  • The cage size used for transport must meet certain dimensions and weight restrictions.
  • Pets must be in good health, harmless, clean, and not have a pungent odor. Pregnant animals are not allowed.
  • Check-in for pets is 90 minutes before flight departure.

Required Documentation:

  • For domestic flights, an animal quarantine certificate is required.

  • Service dogs include support dogs, guide dogs, and hearing dogs assisting disabled persons.
  • They follow the same regulations as small animals (pets) for transportation.
  • Service dogs may be brought into the cabin by disabled persons and this will be indicated on boarding passes.
  • Service dogs must wear muzzles and draglines before boarding and stay at the feet or knees of the disabled persons during the flight.
  • Service dogs may not occupy seats or run in the cabin.
  • Declaring baggage value is not applicable to service dogs.

  • Only small living animals such as dogs, cats, birds, or other household pets are allowed; mice, ornamental fish, wild animals, and certain aggressive or short-nosed breeds are prohibited.
