Service Animals Rules

  • Service dogs are trained in specialized and certified centers.
  • Accepted regardless of weight or size, as long as they do not obstruct evacuation routes.
  • No container required for cabin transport.
  • Up to two (2) service dogs per passenger allowed in cabin.
  • Must have harness or markings on harness, identification card or tag, and credential identifying it as a service dog.
  • For flights to the United States, current U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form and Service Animal Relief Attestation Form are required.
  • Search and rescue dogs must fly with bib, microchip, certificate, dog collar, and double leash for identification.
  • Must present original health certificate valid for no more than 10 calendar days.
  • Minimum age for dogs: 4 months (2 months for domestic flights in Colombia with proper vaccination).
  • Aggressive or disruptive animals may be denied boarding.

Emotional Support:

Emotional Support Animals (ESA) Rules

  • Only emotional support dogs are accepted; cats are not accepted as ESAs.
  • Maximum one (1) emotional support dog per passenger.
  • Weight limits:
    • Up to 10 kg (22 lb) including container: allowed in cabin.
    • Up to 70 kg (154 lb) including container: must fly in the hold at no additional charge.
  • Container requirements:
    • Flexible container (22 x 14 x 10 in) for cabin travel, must fit under the seat in front.
    • Rigid container required for hold travel.
  • Must present a medical certificate from a mental health professional proving the condition.
  • Reservation required at least 48 hours before flight departure via Contact Center.
  • Minimum age for dogs: 4 months (2 months for domestic flights in Colombia with proper vaccination).
  • Dogs must remain inside the container during the flight.
  • Aggressive or disruptive pets are not allowed in cabin; may be transported in hold with extra fees.
  • If dog shows aggressive behavior, a muzzle must be carried and used if necessary.

  • Pets up to 70 kg (154 lb) including container weight may fly in the hold.
  • Container must be rigid (fiberglass, metal, or plastic) and supplied by passenger.
  • Container must allow free movement inside.
  • Each pet must travel in its own container.
  • Transportation subject to availability of space.
  • Book at least 48 hours before flight departure via Contact Center, sales points, or agencies.
  • Pets exceeding 154 lb are not accepted.
  • Only ventilated holds are used; pets cannot be transported in aircraft with non-ventilated holds.
  • Special handling breeds allowed in hold: American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull Terrier, Presa Canario, Doberman, Argentine Dogo, Bordeaux Mastiff, Brazilian Fila, Neapolitan Mastiff, Pitbull Terrier, Rottweiler, Japanese Tosa.
    • Must travel in metal-walled containers with non-toxic materials for feeding and hydration.
    • Basket muzzle required if traveling in plastic container.
  • Prohibited brachycephalic breeds in hold include: Chinese Shar Pei, Boxer, Dogue de Bordeaux, Bulldog, English Bulldog, Belgian Griffon, Griffon Bruxellois, Petit Brabancon, Chin, Japanese Spaniel, Boston Terrier, French Bulldog, Tibetan Spaniel, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, King Charles Spaniel, English Toy Spaniel, Pekingese, Pug, Doguillo; and brachycephalic cat breeds Burmese, Persian, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan.
  • Aggressive or dangerous animals or those posing safety or health risks will not be transported.
  • Roosters transported only on domestic flights within Colombia in hold.
    • Container must be designed for birds (cardboard, wood, or fabric).
    • One bird per compartment; max two crates per passenger; max 6 roosters per passenger.
    • Max combined weight 20 kg including container.
    • Service charged per container.
    • Live exotic, protected, or endangered birds not accepted.
