Asiana Airlines Pet Policy (Summary)
Reservations
- Request approval in advance: ≥24 business hours before domestic, ≥48 business hours before international departures.
- No walk-ups: pets without prior confirmation will be refused (cabin and checked).
Eligible Pets & Quantity
- Accepted species: dogs, cats, pet birds.
- Per adult passenger: 1 pet in cabin + up to 2 pets as checked baggage.
- Children may not travel with pets in the cabin.
In-Cabin Limits
- Weight: pet + carrier ≤ 7 kg.
- Carrier size: max 45 × 32 × 21 cm (soft carrier height up to 26 cm if compressible to 21 cm).
- One carrier per passenger; exceptions: two puppies/kittens <6 months, a mother with young, or a pair of birds in one cage.
- Pet must remain fully inside the carrier; water only during flight.
- Designated pet seating required. Business Class: no under-seat stowage (except A321); carrier is placed as guided by crew for taxi/takeoff/landing.
Checked Baggage (Pet as Checked)
- When exceeding cabin limits and if: pet + crate ≤ 45 kg; crate L+W+H ≤ 285 cm; crate height ≤ 84 cm.
- Numbers may be limited by aircraft/route. On A321 aircraft, pets cannot be checked on international routes.
- Crate: sturdy (metal/wood/plastic), lockable, leak-proof bottom with pad, and well-ventilated; bird cages must be covered with cloth.
Restrictions
- Not accepted if destination laws restrict, aircraft pet quota is reached, or crate standards aren’t met.
- Not accepted: pets <16 weeks, sedated pets, pregnant or foul-smelling pets, ferocious animals, birds of prey.
- Short-nosed breeds: checked-in transport discontinued since July 1, 2019.
Fees
- Additional pet fees apply (domestic and international). Overseas airports may collect local taxes.
Service Animals
- Only trained service dogs are accepted (up to two per passenger). Must be leashed/harnessed and remain on the floor space.
- U.S. routes: reserve ≥48 business hours in advance and submit required U.S. DOT forms; boarding may be denied for improper behavior or missing documentation.
Important Notices
- U.S. entry (from Aug 1, 2024): dogs must be ≥6 months, microchipped, and have CDC Dog Import Form approval (per CDC rules).
