Airline Pet Policy Summary
- Cats or small dogs are allowed in the cabin provided they fit comfortably in a carrier under the seat. Only one pet per passenger is permitted.
- Advance notification is required as space can be limited.
- Pets cannot travel in the cabin if the passenger is an unaccompanied minor, seated in an exit or bulkhead row, requires a medical device under the seat, or is traveling in Premium Economy.
- Travel fees: within Canada and Canada/U.S.: $50.00 CAD/USD, International: $100.00 CAD/USD.
- The pet carrier counts as one standard carry-on item. Pets must remain in their closed carrier under the seat at all times.
- Pets may be refused travel if the carrier is too small. It should allow them to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
- Only cats and dogs at least 10 weeks old and fully weaned are allowed. Each passenger must check-in with an agent 30 minutes prior to the recommended check-in time.
- Online or self-service kiosk check-in is not available when traveling with a pet.
- If pets can't fly in the cabin, they can travel in the pressurized cargo compartment on the same flight.
- Pets can only travel on flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, or an Air Canada Express flight operated by Jazz.
- Carrier size restrictions: Maximum 292 cm (115 in) in linear dimensions (length + width + height). Weight limit: Up to 45 kg (100 lb) (pet and kennel combined).
- Travel fees for pets in the cargo: within Canada and Canada/U.S.: $105 CAD/USD, International: $270 CAD/USD.
