Service Animals: <p>When travelling with a service dog, please keep the following in mind:</p> <ul> <li>Each passenger may travel with only one service dog.<br><strong>Exception:</strong> For flights to/from the U.S., you may travel with two service dogs. If needed, extra floor space is available for purchase.</li> <li>Service dogs are not allowed in seats and must always remain on the floor in front of the seat.</li> <li>Your service dog must have been trained to perform tasks to assist a person with a disability.</li> <li>For domestic, international, and Caribbean flights, your service dog must have been individually trained by an organization or person specializing in service dog training.</li> <li>Your service dog must always remain under your control during travel and must be harnessed, held on a leash, or tethered while not in their kennel.</li> <li>Air Canada may assess your service dog’s size, weight, and other characteristics to determine if it can fit comfortably at your feet. If it cannot, you can request additional floor space by contacting Air Canada Accessibility Services at least 48 hours before your flight.</li> <li>If additional floor space is required, it is free of charge for flights within Canada. For all other flights, extra floor space must be purchased.</li> <li>Your service dog must meet all travel, entry, or exit requirements of the country, province, state, or territory you are travelling to/from.</li> </ul> <h4>Travel Requirements</h4> <h5>Flights to the U.S.</h5> <p>The U.S. has specific regulations for dogs entering the country. Please consult the government regulations page for more information on entry requirements.</p> <p>You must submit the following forms to Air Canada Accessibility Services at least 48 hours before departure:</p> <ul> <li>U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form</li> <li>If your flight is 8 hours or more: U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation Form</li> </ul> <h5>All Other Flights</h5> <p>You must submit the following forms to Air Canada Accessibility Services at least 48 hours before departure:</p> <ul> <li>Air Canada Service Animal Form</li> <li>Identification or documentation from a qualified service dog training organization or individual, confirming the dog was individually trained to assist with a disability.</li> </ul>

Emotional Support Animals: <p>Only dogs are accepted as emotional support animals. Please remember the following while travelling with your emotional support dog:</p><ul><li>Your emotional support dog must be able to travel safely and comfortably in an approved pet carrier under the seat in front of you.</li><li>If your emotional support dog can’t travel safely and comfortably in a carrier, they can travel in the pressurized baggage compartment available on most of our aircraft.</li><li>Your emotional support dog must remain in their carrier for the full duration of your trip.</li></ul>

Dangerous Breeds List: Dangerous Breeds are allowed. Certain dog breeds are classified as strong dogs and must be transported in a special reinforced container or crate when travelling in the baggage compartment. About the container or crate: The container must be constructed of weld or wire mesh, metal, wood or a synthetic material other than plastic. The crate door must be made of wire mesh, metal or wood and should have a secure lock that can’t be opened accidentally. We reserve the right to refuse any animal that exhibits aggressive behavior and/or cage destruction.

In the Cabin

  • Cats or small dogs are allowed provided they can stand, turn around and lie down in their carrier under the seat in front of you.
  • Advance notice is required as space may be limited.
  • Restrictions apply for unaccompanied minors, those seated in exit or bulkhead rows, those requiring the use of a medical device that needs stowage under the seat, and travellers in Premium Economy cabin.

Fees

  • Within Canada and Canada/U.S: $50.00 CAD/USD for one-way travel.
  • International: $100.00 CAD/USD for one-way travel.

Pet Carrier

  • The carrier counts as the one standard carry-on item.
  • The pet must always remain in its closed carrier under the seat in front of you.
  • The carrier must be big enough for the pet to stand up, turn around and lie down comfortably, with no part of them extending outside the carrier.
  • Carrier size exceptions apply based on cabin/aircraft type.

Other Restrictions

  • Only one cat or small dog in the cabin is allowed per passenger.
  • In most cases, your pet must be at least 10 weeks old and fully weaned.
  • Passengers must arrive a full 30 minutes prior to the recommended check-in time and must see an agent at check-in. Online or self-service kiosk check-ins are not possible when travelling with a pet.
